The Toby Henderson Trust
Why We Need You
|
|
This is a fabulous project, although as you can see, it carries with it a considerable cost.
Sadly, we receive no government funding and it is a constant challenge to meet running costs and continue to raise the much needed money to diversify and extend our services.
It is for this reason that we so desperately need and welcome the help of others. Imagine if you can... what it feels like to be alone in a foreign country, where you don’t understand the language or the customs and where your failure to act as the residents do is interpreted as stubbornness or stupidity.
This scenario, unlikely as it seems to most of us, characterises the world of an autistic child.
The Toby Henderson Trust Centre for Autism Development opened in November 2001 to provide a range of practical, hands – on services to children with autism and their carers, where previously little existed. In little over 2 years, the centre has gone from strength to strength and we now regularly receive enquires from throughout the whole of the UK, such is the desperate need for the services we offer to both families and supporting professionals. Perhaps you can imagine... the passion and pure pleasure behind this charity. Every day, we are faced with the challenge of supporting more children and their families in ways which diversify and extend in the future. Every day, we relish this challenge and draw comfort from the knowledge that we really are making a difference to so many lives. Our success to date is clearly reflected in our celebration of those with whom we work.
