We’ve been helping teachers for more than fifteen years!
The Toby Henderson Trust are committed to supporting practitioners in education. Our aim is to help ensure that children and young people with autism can learn, thrive and achieve in their educational settings.
Our senior staff all have a vast range of experience in supporting teachers, teaching assistants, nursery staff and headteachers. They have also had experience of working in schools themselves. Throughout the last fifteen years, we have provided training and support for many hundreds of classroom practitioners and key personnel.
On-Site Autism Consultations for Practitioners in Education
We are now pleased to offer a half day on-site consultation sessions for schools, nurseries and other educational settings. Our three-hour consultation will be conducted by two senior members of Toby Henderson Trust staff.
In these sessions, we will encourage your teaching practitioners to analyse how their working practices affect children on the autism spectrum. We will look at their teaching environment, communication style, and their use of strategies to support children with ASD in their classroom. The consultation includes:
- Observations of: the physical classroom, the outdoor environment, barriers to learning.
- Review, assessment and recommendations for the systems and strategies which are already in place.
- A one-hour meeting (over lunch if preferred) for Q&A and open discussion with involved teaching practitioners.
- A follow-up report, listing key recommendations.
- A follow-up e-mail or phone consultation.
The basic cost for this service is £369.00 (plus mileage calculated at 40p per mile).
Enhanced consultations with an Occupational Therapist
If your school would benefit from observations and consultation with one of our specialist Occupational Therapists, these can also be incorporated into the training. These sessions will be conducted by one OT and one senior staff member. The cost of this enhanced training is £519.
