Children with autism face sensory challenges every day. Fun family activities that others might take for granted can be very difficult, stressful or even impossible. Trips to the supermarket. Holidays. Family meals at a restaurant.
Many parents of children with autism wouldn’t even think of trying to have a family portrait taken at a photography studio. The unfamiliar space. The lights and other equipment. The unusual noises. The instructions that aren’t quite clear enough.
And then there’s an upfront fee for a session that you might have to abandon.
That’s why we’ve come up with a way for you to have a lovely family photo session in time for Christmas!
Autism-friendly family portrait sessions at Toby House
This is a great opportunity for the whole family to come and have their photograph taken in familiar surroundings. We’ve chosen Northumbrian Photography to take the photos. Not just because their portraits are beautiful and capture the sitters’ characters, but also because they have experience in photographing children with autism. They really were wonderful with our children and families at least year’s portrait sessions and we’re delighted to welcome them back to Toby House again this year.
You’ll get a half hour slot with an autism-friendly photographer. Your session can be for just your child or your whole family. Would your children like to be photographed with their favourite things? Great! Bring them along! And you should also feel free to bring whatever else you need to make your child comfortable. We’ll all do whatever we can to make the session fun and successful for you.
Special low fee and no need to buy
Studio sessions are usually £50 each, while location sessions are £75. But Northumbrian Photography has very kindly offered to do this for us for just £10 per photo shoot. And there’s no obligation to buy any photographs afterwards. Packages and individual prints will be available to purchase directly from Northumbrian photography.
