We are offering a free workshop on Monday 30th November 2026 12 noon – 2pm and it will be delivered by NVR Practitioner and Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist Carolyn Morgan.

NVR (Non-Violent Resistance) is a parenting approach that takes its inspiration from the political movements where change is brought about in a peaceful manner.

“You cannot change how people treat you or what they say about you. All you can do is change how you react to it” Mahatma Ghandi.

Rather than using consequences, or trying to develop insight in the young person, the aim instead is to raise parental or carer presence. NVR does not try to change the child instead it hopes to change the relationship between parent and child. Within NVR the adults are central to this work. Carolyn is a qualified NVR practitioner and uses this approach to help parents deal with their child’s violent, aggressive and challenging behaviours.

We are pleased to offer this webinar via Zoom on Monday 13th July 2026 12 noon to 2 pm. It is presented by child and adolescent psychotherapist Carolyn Morgan, looking at Autism and Mental Health Difficulties in Children and Young People. The mental health needs of autistic people are often overlooked. Problems such as anxiety, depression and obsessive behaviours can be common. It is difficult to find help and support for these issues. For our young people it may be very hard for them to communicate how they are feeling. We may see school avoidance, eating difficulties, self-harming behaviour, meltdowns, and troubled peer or sibling relationships amongst other problems.

For parents/carers of autistic children and young people, the autism diagnosis will usually have come as a direct result of looking at “deficits” that meet a specific criterion to receive this diagnosis. From the outside looking in, being autistic has often been viewed negatively in our society. But what about the positive aspects of being autistic… and there are many if we just know how to recognise them. We will cover the reality of autistic joy, what it means to “info dump”, stim and when Joy becomes just too much.

This webinar aims to take us all on a real journey where we embrace the ups and downs of autistic joy, through lived experience of actually autistic children, young people and adults, as well as parents/ carers and those who work closely within the field of autism every day.

Do you or someone you care about experience sudden involuntary sounds and or movements? If you feel you or your loved one might have a tic disorder, or maybe you already have a confirmed diagnosis, you will know that it can be a difficult, sometimes lonely time and there are often lots of myths or misinformation around. We know that autistic people often experience lots of other conditions, and tic disorders can sometimes be one of those.

This webinar is our first on this topic, and aims to provide information and support for anyone that may be interested. We hope to use feedback from this pilot to shape any future webinars on this topic.

This free webinar for families will be presented by Emily Searle, our Speech and Language Therapist via Zoom on Monday 19th October 12.30pm – 1.30pm.

This webinar is for families who have an autistic child or young person under going the diagnostic pathway. It aims to help you understand how to develop and use Social Stories ™ to support your child.

Social Stories ™ were created by Carol Gray in 1991. They are short descriptions of a particular situation, event or activity, which include specific information about what to expect in that situation and why. They are an effective tool to address issues of social
misunderstanding and confusion. They inform, reassure, support and praise children who often struggle to make sense of the world around them.

This free workshop for families will be presented by Emily Searle, our Speech and Language Therapist via Zoom on Wednesday 3rd June 10am – 11.30am at Toby House, Earth Balance near Bedlington.

The workshop is for families who have an autistic child or young person under going the diagnostic pathway.
